WDI GmbH

Drahtseilwerk Dortmund (Rope factory Dortmund) as a subsidiary of Westfälische Drahtindustrie GmbH (WDI) located in Hamm, produces standard and high performance steel wire ropes under the tradename PYTHON^® since 1911. With 76 employees in Dortmund plus another 100 in three further locations, WDI has an annual production of 10.000 tons of steel wire ropes in a diameter range from 1 to 120 mm.

PYTHON^® wire ropes work in a large variety of applications such as mining, offshore, forestry, overhead cranes, mobile cranes, port business, ship cranes and many more. Being made from the scratch, literally, our ropes constitute the end of a long raw material supply chain: under one umbrella, WDI has their own steel mills, wire rod production and one of the largest cutting edge wire draw works in Europe.

All sites of WDI are certified according to EN ISO 9001:2008.
